Who to call or text:

• 9-1-1 is for emergencies that require immediate assistance from the police, fire department, or ambulance.
• 3-1-1 is the Harris County and City of Houston assistance for information about transportation, infrastructure, debris pick up, and other services.
• 2-1-1 is the helpline for United Way General assistance.
• 9-8-8 is for Mental Health Emergencies

During freezing temperatures, remember to protect the four P's:

• ‍PEOPLE should dress warmly, in layers, to avoid hypothermia (abnormally low body temperature).‍
• PETS should be brought indoors or provided with a warm place to sleep.‍
• PIPES that run outside or under a house should be wrapped in pipe insulation to avoid cracks due to water freezing in them.‍
• PLANTS may need to be covered or brought inside to avoid frost damage.
