The Career and Employment Center Professional Staff

As the Manager of the Career and Employment Center at Alexander JFS, Laura Alter brings a wealth of experience and dedication to providing comprehensive career counseling, education advice, and job skills training to clients at all levels. Laura is a Certified Psychiatric Practitioner and Certified Professional Resume Writer. With a strong commitment to inclusivity and person-centered services, Laura is certified by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) to deliver Job Placement Services, Job Skills Training, and Vocational Adjustment Training specifically tailored to adults with disabilities. She holds an Autism Endorsement from TWC, providing her expertise in supporting individuals with neurodiversity in their career journeys.

Laura's professional background includes many years of Human Resources Management experience before joining Alexander JFS. Her knowledge in the field allows her to navigate the complex landscape of employment and career development, ensuring that clients receive the highest quality of service. Laura’s education includes an MS in Human Resource Management from Houston Baptist University and a BA in Psychology and Management from the University of Texas at Austin.

Servicing many individuals in the public and private sector as a Vocational Counselor, Andersen has a strong passion for assisting people with disabilities. From his time with Texas Workforce Solutions rehabilitating people with disabilities into the workforce to providing employment opportunities to retired and medically discharged military personnel at the Veterans Hospital, Andersen will continue to provide an impactful presence to people with disabilities seeking gainful employment. Through various counseling and guidance techniques, he has exemplified patience and diligence in the commitment to providing career services for people with disabilities. Andersen is certified by the Texas Workforce Commission in Job Skills Training.

Andersen holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Tuskegee University and his Master of Science in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from Alabama State University. Andersen is working on additional TWC certifications and will update more when completed.

Mandy Thibodeaux has a deep-rooted passion for helping others become the best versions of themselves! She believes that being a mentor, coach, and advocate for every client, is the most worthwhile way to spend her life! Having the ability to make a true impact, and to see the difference she has made in a client’s life circumstance, is the most rewarding and fulfilling experience! She leverages her expertise and experiences to empower every client. Impactfully motivating her clients to reach their full potential; and find the career they were meant to have!

Mandy has a professional background in Management, Coaching/Development/Training and Recruitment prior to Alexander JFS. Her expert knowledge and diverse background has allowed her to develop vital tools that are essential in guiding every client through the complexities of the job search process.

Mandy holds a Master of Business Administration in Marketing and a BA in Business from Houston Christian University. She holds a Certification as a CEMP (Certified Empowerment & Motivational Professional).
