The mission of Count Me In is to unite the community to brighten the lives of Jews of all ages by providing a donated gift card to purchase gifts and ritual items during the Hanukkah season. Count Me In was founded in 2005 by Eric Berdinis and Ben Rice, two teenagers entering their first year of high school. They wanted to be involved in a community service project throughout their high school years where they could make a difference in people’s lives. They remembered their excitement as children when Chanukah came and wanted to bring that feeling to Jewish kids in the city. At the time, it was a novel idea for Houston.
