Job Purpose:
To be an integral part of a successful and fast-paced development team that raises funds to support the programs and services of a human service agency.
This position serves a critical role in fundraising, donor relationship management, customer service and donor experience through supporting systems and processes to manage a donor database of over 1,000 active donors.
This role specifically manages the day-to-day distribution of donor receipts and tribute notifications, but also supports data management and various specific campaigns throughout the year.
Duties and responsibilities:
Relationship Building
- Connect and communicate with donors to build and nurture relationships
- Ensure that information in the donor database is up-to-date and accurate for all donors that they interact with
- Service recovery skills and experience – manage donor expectations and any donor management mistakes
Fundraising
- Campaign design and full implementation for 2 – 4 annual campaigns ((Monthly giving, matching giving, car donations, in-kind donations, Holiday fundraising, end-of -year campaigns, lapsed donors)
- Experience working with lay leader Chairs of campaigns
Stewardship/Donor Engagement
- Holiday greeting cards, printed and digital
- Bereavement processes
- Run thank-a-thon and other Board and donor engagement initiatives.
- Initiate media or printed pieces for donor “touches”
Communication/Reporting
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to adapt communication to the target audience
- Proactive communication to address important issues before they become problems
- Create reports that show fundraising progress and effectiveness of current and past campaigns
Organization/Implementation
- Keep up-to-date on incoming emails, follow-up, and follow-through
- Daily production of donor acknowledgment letters including tax/donor receipts
- Daily production of tribute notifications
- Daily support of data entry
- Support administrative and organizational tasks for Chief Philanthropy Officer.
- Special projects as assigned.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
Development Team Support
- Post-event follow-up
- Support development team for events as needed.
- Support meeting coordination
- Manage meeting agendas and notes
Technical Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and use of customer service/donor database
- Ability to run reports, create charts and graphs that illustrate important data in a clear way
Qualifications
Required:
- Microsoft Office (intermediate/advanced – ability to mail merge required)
- Experience with donor databases or customer service
- Data Entry
- Attention to detail
- Excellent customer service
- Highly organized
- Some written or digital fundraising campaign experience
- Positive team collaboration
- Verbal and written communication skills (correct grammar and proofing)
- Minimum of 5 years in development work
Preferred skills:
- Raisers Edge, including gift entry and reports
Working conditions
- This is an on-site full-time position. A small percentage of remote work may be permitted.
- This is a position that requires positive interaction with the development/marketing team and refined customer service skills in servicing the various departments of the agency, particularly accounting.
- The work culture is supportive, family-friendly,affirming and deeply dedicated to helping the agency’s clients.
- Parking is not on site; a shuttle is available for free offsite parking.
- Occasional evenings and Sundays.
Physical requirements
Must be able to meet routine office physical demands, including lifting up to 15-pound objects and possessing the dexterity and vision to operate office computers
