Share kindness, warmth, and joy with someone in the hospital with a Shabbat Box!
Shabbat Boxes include challah, grape juice, prayers and helpful information and can be delivered directly to patients in hospitals we currently serve. To request a box, please contact chaplaincy@alexanderjfs.org.
Alexander Jewish Family Service also welcomes teen or adult volunteers to make Shabbat Boxes for the Velva G. & H. Fred Levine Jewish Chaplaincy Program. Our chaplains and volunteers visit patients in area hospitals and need a supply of decorated Shabbat Boxes. We are ready to train you how to make and fill the boxes and share the importance of this mitzvah project!
We can schedule volunteers in advance so if you know someone who needs community service hours, we can make plans now or in the future. We accept ages 12 and up for this project and it is most suitable for people who like to draw or work with arts and crafts. Volunteers commit to making 25 boxes every other week for 2-3 months. Many lives are touched by the creative and artistic goodwill of people like you.
Please contact Alexander JFS Volunteer Coordinator, Melanie Cole Goldberg for more information: mcolegoldberg@alexanderjfs.org or (713) 986-7856.
