Get Your Pet Ready for Emergencies

Texas has pet friendly emergency shelters so you can bring your pet with you have to evacuate your home.

Emergency Pet Kit

Your pet kit should be a lightweight, smaller version of what your family has. Consider having both a come emergency pet kit as well as a smaller gran and go kit.

Your Pet's Carrier

Write the name of your pet, its descrition and your phone number

What goes in your pet's emergency kit?
  • Leash and collar with ID tag that includes your phone number
  • Copy of immunization and health records
  • Pet muzzle (to prevent bites to rescue personnel)
  • Picture of your pet, in case you are seperated
  • Pet food and water for 7-10 days, and dishes
  • Pet medication (7-10 days)
  • Treats
  • Toys, beds, and conforting items for your pet.
