Through our work, we aim to educate our consumers about the importance of disability rights as human rights and make a global impact by fostering a community of artists, advocates, and allies.

The position reports to the Celebration Company Volunteer Coordinator/Community Outreach Coordinator.

Job Purpose

Modeled after “Counselor in Training (CIT)” programs, Alexander Jewish Family Service is providing a unique opportunity for selected individuals to provide direct service to employees as a Program Assistant in Training (PIT Crew).

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Work as part of a team at Celebration Company to ensure excellent delivery of services to participants
  • Aid Celebration Company Staff with participant oversight to ensure a productive and safe work environment
  • Assist participants with their work tasks while they are on the floor
  • Assist and/or co-facilitate special skills groups with a Celebration Company staff member
  • Facilitate and assist participants with food preparation
  • Help with quality control of products
  • Serve in the Celebration Company Retail Store and Gallery when needed
  • Support Celebration Company staff when needed
  • Additional responsibilities as warranted by management

  • Assistance with tracking participation hours
  • Training in Jewish culture and traditions/working in a Jewish organization
  • Ongoing mentorship and support with:
    • Customer service
    • Workplace safety procedures (Food HandlerCertification, etc.)
    • Time management
    • Job-Coach Training for onsite production goals
    • Workplace relationships
    • Public speaking
    • Assisting in small groups
    • Leadership skills
    • Communication skills
    • Social skills
    • Life skills
    • Self-Advocacy skills
Qualifications Include:
  • Experience working with the disability population
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to preserve confidential information
  • Demonstrate ability to foster a workable, effective and productive relationship with other clients, staff, administration, volunteers and organizations
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member and assist staff members willingly.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills
  • Flexible availability
Salary:
  • The PIT Crew program participants will be paid $8.50/hour
  • Program hours are 9:00- 3:00
  • PIT Crew works on average four hours per day up to three days per week
  • Additional hours are reserved for breaks, training and support
Financial Requirements:

The PIT Crew program is billed monthly based on the scheduled participation days per week:

  • 3 days/week-$500 per month
  • 2 days/week- $367 per month
  • 1 day/week-$183 per month
